Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking
Langtang Gosaikunda trekking takes you to the remote and spectacular Langtang valley, including the high mountain lakes at Gosainkunda, one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in Nepal. Every August on full moon day, numerous Buddhist and Hindu devotees from different parts of Nepal and India hike to this glacier lake to pay homage to Lord Shiva and take a dip themselves in the sanctified waters of this lake.
Besides, you will also visit the beautiful Langtang National Park towards the end of the valley to see the wonderful Himalayan mountains. During the trip, you will follow the Trishuli River to the north, through Trishuli Bazaar, and halt at Dhunche to reach Syabrubesi, a Sherpa village located at the very edge of Langtang National Park. You then walk east into the Langtang valley, crossing the river several times as you climb up along a gorge-like lower section of the valley. You will walk through oak and rhododendron forests and even cross glacial moraine on your way to the Tamang village in the Langtang region. You enjoy watching monkeys play and listening to the chirping birds in the bamboo groves. You can also see the high mountains of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri shimmering in the far distance. While traversing high mountain ridges, you will have a chance to meet other fellow travelers along the trails.
The best time to do the Langtang Gosaikunda trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons, when the weather is generally stable and the views are clear.
