Mardi Himal Trekking
Mardi Himal Trekking is a relatively new trekking route in the Annapurna region that offers a unique opportunity to explore the deep forests and high alpine pastures of the southern Annapurna ranges. The trek is ideal for those who are looking for a new and less crowded trekking route. The trails are not frequently used by hikers, and sometimes it can be hard to identify them. During the trek, you may encounter shepherds and pilgrims passing by.
The trek provides outstanding mountain views, away from the teahouse trails. On the last day of the trek, you will visit some villages and experience the traditional charm of the village people. The Mardi Himal Trek literally adds a lifetime adventure thrill to the trekking enthusiasts. The entire area is quite steep-sided and heavily wooded with bamboo and rhododendron. High alpine meadows above the forest offer a beautiful grazing site that is a habitat for undisturbed animals.
The Mardi Himal trek can be completed within 9–10 days. The trek starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, followed by a local land transport to Kande, which is the trek starting point. From Kande, you will follow a beautiful trail that takes you to the culturally rich villages of the Gurung ethnic community.
In spring, you can enjoy the beautiful sight of rhododendrons that bloom in red. You will spend a night at Forest Camp, Low Camp, and High Camp, from where you will enjoy the best glimpse of sunrise and sunset views of Mt. Mardi Himal, Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other surrounding peaks. You will explore the western side of Mardi Himal Base Camp, located at an elevation of 4500m. After exploration, you will return to Pokhara, then to Kathmandu, and finally conclude the Mardi Himal trek.
